The exotic crop has inspired others keen to diversify their farms

For centuries, the Japanese have been drinking green tea as an  important part of their culture and everyday life.

Now, Australian farmers are harvesting the exotic crop with great success to meet Asia's rising demand.

Agricultural analysts suggest Australia could one day be a major exporter of green tea in the global market.

High in the hills of Mangrove Mountain on the New South Wales Central Coast, Akio Onozawa is tending to one of Australia’s first green-tea farms, using age-old techniques from his Japanese hometown of Shizuoka.
