On Saturday, April 16, Orthodox Christians celebrate Lazarus Saturday. The feast is celebrated on the Saturday of the sixth week of Lent and eight days before Easter.

Saint Lazarus is a disciple of Jesus Christ. Four days after Lazarus' death, he was resurrected. Jesus stands in front of the tomb and shouts, "Lazarus, get out!"

Lazarus comes to life and gets out of his tomb.

The miracle of Lazarus' resurrection caused unbearable resentment among the chief priests and Pharisees.

Thus, the resurrection of Lazarus became the immediate cause of the death sentence of Jesus Christ. That is why the Passion Week or the Week of Christ's Suffering begins on this day.
