Socialist-backed candidate Rumen Radev won the first round of Bulgaria's presidential elections.
Radev got 25.44% of the vote on Sunday, November 06, while his main opponent Tsetska Tsacheva came second with 21.96%.
The third place is saved for the candidates from the United Patriots Coalition, Krasimir Karakachanov and his running mate Yavor Notev, who have received the support of 14.97%.
The deputy head of Bulgaria's biggest party GERB said its lawmakers consider voting "yes" to all three changes to the electoral system overwhelmingly backed in the referendum on that was held at the same time as the presidential elections.
Bulgarian voters were asked to have a say on the introduction of a first-past-the-post system, compulsory voting, and a drastic cut in state subsidies earned by parties per each vote received.
Bulgaria's biggest opposition Bulgarian Socialists Party (BSP), may also support the introduction of a majority system and a reduction of subsidies, party leader Korneliya Ninova said.
