Love doesn't make us criminals

Bulgaria will be represented at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest by Poli Genova. She already participated in the Eurovision 2011 in Düsseldorf with the song "Na Inat" and hosted the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Poli Genova is an artist and lead singer with many talents. She started singing at the age of four at the popular Bulgarian children's music group Bon-Bon and later helped establish their label. She studied clarinet at a musical school in Sofia and then film directing at the Bulgarian National Academy for Theatrical and Film Arts.

The list of popular TV shows Poli participated in Bulgaria includes X Factor, Dancing with the Stars, BG TOP 40, The Magnificient Six, I Can Do That, Your Face Sounds Familiar. Poli currently takes part in three musicals and she is also the Bulgarian voice of Judy Hoops in the new Disney film Zootropolis.

At the beginning of the Bulgarian press conference, Poli Genova first stated about her rehearsa. "The things are getting better and better, I feel confident on stage - I think it's become my home."

Borislav Milanov, the songwriter of "If Love Was A Crime", who also wrote "Na Inat" for Poli, explained how the creation of the song came about. "Four days before the deadline I got an emergency call from Poli, and she said: We did it well five years ago. Can we do it again this year? I said: It's possible but you have to fly immediately to Vienna to meet me. And to finish it, we had to fly to Sofia because Poli had to play at a theatre. At 6 am on Monday we finished the song, and 9 am was the deadline."

Ambra Succi commented on the stage design: "It's very simple but also very strong. It's about Coming Together - Poli wants to unite people. It's simple but at the same time it's not simple: We are living in difficult times, and bringing the people together is even more important."

Poli Genova gave an exclusive interview for Alistair Birch and SBS Radio.
