A public discussion on the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence is organized by National Assembly President Tsveta Karayancheva.
The convention opens the door to moral decay. This is the position of the Holy Synod, who urged the National Assembly not to ratify the document.
Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) calls for a referendum on the Istanbul Convention.
According to BSP leader, Kornelia Ninova, people can express their opinion about the situation the ratification of the Istanbul Convention has created.
“The party proposes that the question of the referendum be For and Against the ratification of the Istanbul Convention?” Ninova said.
She insists that if the authorities were in a hurry and insisted that this ratification be made, then the people would not be able to say what they think.
“There are some colleagues who are talking about a referendum. If there is a referendum, it must be clearly written - "for" or "against" domestic violence of women and children in Bulgaria", Prime Minister Boyko Borisov commented live on Facebook ".
