The first session of the new Parliament, which was supposed to elect the Speaker of the House in an hour, lasted three days due to the inability of the MPs to reach an agreement.

After more than 10 unsuccessful votes, Vezhdi Rashidov from GERB party, the oldest MP, an artist at heart and a sculptor by trade, was elected. The proposal was made by BSP, supported by GERB, DPS and BV.

On the part of the President Rumen Radev, it was understood that he will not rush to hand over the first mandate to form a government, and on the part of GERB - that they have potential and will make every effort to realise the mandate.
