Local elections in Bulgaria will be held on October 27.
The ruling party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) is expected to once again win the most seats for mayors and municipal councilors.
A breakthrough for the opposition will be if it wins at least one mayoral seat in any of the big cities.
Making predictions in local elections is difficult, but there are indicators that will ultimately focus on who wins and who loses.

The latest poll by Alpha Research predicts a contested race for the mayor post in the capital Sofia.
According to the data, the current mayor and candidate of the GERB ruling party, Yordanka Fandakova, prevails, followed by the independent candidate Maya Manolova, who is supported by the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and other parties and organisations.
The third place is for Borislav Ignatov, raised by Democratic Bulgaria, and the fourth for Angel Dzhambazki, raised by VMRO (The Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization).
