The National Revenue Agency (NRA) has begun a check in the deal between the electricity distribution company CEZ and Inercom.
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov asked NRA and State Agency "National Security" (SANS) to look into the sale of the assets of CEZ electricity distribution.
Borisov asked that all relevant circumstances should be investigated with the participation of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) and the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC).
On 23rd of February, Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova submittted her resignation after the sale of CEZ Bulgaria to Inercom.
"We have underestimated the situation in recent days a bit, as the CEZ deal was conducted in the Czech Republic between two private companies," Borisov said at an extraordinary press conference in the National Assembly.
According to the Bulgarian Prime Minister, "somebody wants to repeat the February events in 2013. But in another scenario and with the same performers - again CEZ, again electricity, again populist speeches - and again speculation that the government and I are involved in some illegal deal... This time there will be no resignation and I promise that these people... I will break them all."
President Rumen Radev told reporters regarding the deal for the sale of CEZ’s business in Bulgaria, "I would call a Consultative Council on National Security on the general subject of energy, Belene NPP and CEZ are particular cases."
