'The Revenant' leads with 12 nominations, including best picture and lead actor for Leonardo DiCaprio.
Australia's Cate Blanchett has also been nominated in the best actress category again for her role in the romance 'Carol'.
She'll compete against Jennifer Lawrence and rising stars Brie Larson and Saoirse Ronan.
The ceremony, hosted by Chris Rock for the second time, will be held on Feb. 28 and air live on ABC.
