The gunman, identified as Karim Cheurfi, opened fire on a police vehicle parked on the Champs Elysees in Paris on Thursday (April 20), killing one officer and injuring two others, before being shot dead.

But Mr Molins said that despite the fact Mr Cheurfi had spent years in prison, investigators had found no sign that the 39-year-old French citizen had been radicalised.

Mr Molins said his team was trying to establish whether the gunman had any accomplishes.
