Doping scandals overshadowed the build-up to Rio and, far from dying down as competition has got under way, have flared anew as US and Australian competitors have branded their Russian and Chinese rivals as drug cheats.
Chen finished fourth earlier in the week in the 100m freestyle, swimming without knowing the result of the alleged positive test, and is due to compete in the 50m freestyle tomorrow.
