Cyclone Debbie: Bowen area 'looks like a war zone'

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has visited the Crisis Coordination Centre in Canberra to receive a briefing on Queensland's Cyclone Debbie.

He's confirmed there are more than 1000 emergency service personnel ready to help afffected communities and work on the clean up.

He says the federal government is well prepared and working very closely with the state government to respond to the natural disaster.

"We have put in place enormous preparation for this storm. I mean, it's one of the great advantages of all of the technology you see around us is to be able to anticipate these events."

“根据我们所掌握的大量证据,飓风将许多树木连根拔起,多座建筑受损;但我们只有在派遣地面紧急服务工作人员之后才能获得真实信息,了解破坏的严重性。这是一场大灾难,一些地区的受灾情况肯定很严重。”

飓风Debbie目前减弱至2级风暴。
