Australian travellers have been advised not to go to popular Thai areas of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla after deadly bombings.

One Thai person was killed and 30 wounded when two bombs exploded late on Tuesday near a hotel in the southern Thai coastal town of Pattani, less than two weeks after a series of unexplained blasts hit the south.

"We advise against all travel here due to the very high risk," the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says.
