Dick Smith customers have been assured their product warranties will be honoured.

The Warranty Group says it will honour valid claims under extended warranties sold on every product at Dick Smith to date.

All warranties sold in Australia and New Zealand, accounting for more than $2 million in retail value, will be covered.

This includes 135,000 extended warranties that were left exposed when Dick Smith went into receivership in January.

"The closure of Dick Smith retail stores is unfortunate and we want to give our loyal customers the peace of mind we promised when they chose to buy products from Dick Smith," The Warranty Group's director of sales for Southeast Asia Hemaka Perera said.

The good news comes a day after online retail giant Kogan.com's announcement it had acquired Dick Smith's online business.

The Warranty Group has been Dick Smith's provider of extended warranty services since 2008.
