Hong Kong: Tens of thousands protest after activists jailed

Thousands of people have rallied in Hong Kong to protest the jail sentences handed to three young pro-democracy activists.

上周,20岁的黃之鋒、24岁的羅冠聰和27岁的周永康因为非法集会罪名成立,分别被判刑6到8个月,这对以年轻人为首的推动普选和政治干预构成了打击。

监禁的条款也剥夺了他们5年之内的竞选资格,叫停了他们的政治前景。

香港湾仔至中环街道挤满市民,手持标语牌和横幅,要求释放这三名男子。

据报道,香港当局估计,最高峰时期大约有22000人参与,并一度需封闭轩尼诗道西行所有行车线,队尾在游行开始后近两小时,才离开湾仔修顿球场。游行人士之后在终审法院外集会,到晚上约7时半结束。

抗议者Joseph Cheng表示,这场运动将继续下去。

“我很确定香港政府最终会付出代价的。人们现在对政治制度的最后一个支柱,即司法独立,表示怀疑。”

参与抗议其中一名学者郑宇硕表示,相信运动会持续下去。
