Brisbane's Chinatown Mall is set to turn red and gold for good fortune and joy, as the city welcomes in the Year of the Pig.

From 4pm-9pm on Saturday, February 9 and 12pm-5pm on Sunday, February 10, Fortitude Valley will light up as the Lunar New Year sweeps through in celebration, as part of the Brisbane City Council's BrisAsia Festival, which seeks to foster stronger connections and collaborations between Brisbane and Asia.
Saturday will come to life with performances and festivities, including traditional dances, firecracker shows, live music, and stunning cultural displays. You can also take home some traditional fair from markets that span throughout the afternoon and evening!

In a similar fashion, Sunday will continue with markets and performances, but also offer interactive sessions of the lucky envelope and blessing card workshops and origami workshops.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk says the City of Brisbane's Lunar New Year celebrations offer a variety of colourful entertainment for residents and visitors.

"This historic celebration recognises the most important date in the Chinese and Asian calendar, with a vibrant mix of traditional Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese dances, cultural performances, firecrackers and hands-on workshops," Cr Quirk says.

Date and time: 4-9pm, February 9; 12-5pm, February 10
Venue address: Chinatown Mall, Duncan St, Fortitude Valley
Cost: Free
Age: All ages
Bookings: No bookings required
