Lunar New Year in Parramatta this Friday

Parramatta will welcome the Year of the Rooster during its annual Lunar New Year celebrations in Centenary Square on Friday 3 February 2017 from 4.30pm.

The festivities will showcase the beautiful and colourful traditions of South East Asian culture which will include traditional and contemporary entertainment from local and international performers, free family fun workshops including calligraphy and lantern-making and a selection of culinary delights.

Lunar New Year WorkshopsComedian Michael Hing will host the main stage entertainment featuring talented local performer Sophia Bridget Dalisay, community groups and special guests Shaan'xi Province Art Group.

The Lunar Food Village will feature cuisine from popular eateries including Tsuru, Jimmy Liks and Yan’s, as well as mouth-watering desserts from Koi and KayterCo.

A colourful lantern canopy will delight all selfie enthusiasts and families can explore Lunar Land’s workshops from lantern making and umbrella decorating, to calligraphy and story time.

The evening program’s highlights will include a 10 minute fireshow from the Dauntless Movement Crew, the traditional Lion & Dragon Dance, Chinese fire crackers and the spectacular fireworks show.
