A Queenslander has won the $70 million Powerball jackpot.

Tatts Lotteries had been unable to contact the winner, a registered player, after Thursday night's draw.

The jackpot is the largest win on a single ticket in Powerball history, Tatts Lotteries spokeswoman Elissa Lewis says.

It also equals the largest Lotto win ever by a single ticket that was set in December 2013 when a ticket bought on the Gold Coast won $70 million in Oz Lotto.
