CULTURAL POEM

SBS Radio Mandarin Program explores the connections and conflicts between modern social values and traditional ethnic literature. Mandarin host Cindy Xie joins our guest speakers to exchange thoughts on topical issues initiating broader discussions in Australian Chinese communities.

“Ironically a Chinese poem is always commercialised and known as a promotion slogan in property sales other than appreciation of poetry reading”, said Chinese culture expert Dr Min Tao, who believed the poetry has been dying out.

Chinese culture expert Dr Shuangyuan Shi said people nowadays prefer to post on social media other than read a poem. “Play less Wechat, read more”.

SBS Radio Mandarin Friday Forum: Is the Poetry Dying Out is coming to you from 8.15 to 9 am this Friday on SBS Radio.
