Toddler drowns in portable pool in Sydney on Christmas Eve

A two-year-old boy has drowned in a portable pool in Sydney's southwest, according to police.

A toddler has drowned in a portable pool in a southwest Sydney home.

The two-year-old boy was found in a pool at a home in Bass Hill at around 6.45pm on Sunday, a NSW Police spokesman said.

The child was rushed to Westmead Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police on Monday told AAP the toddler had drowned in a small, portable pool.

A crime scene was established and police are investigating.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
