US President-elect Donald Trump released a video on Monday laying out actions he will take on his first day in office on Jan. 20, including withdrawing the United States from a Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.

"On trade I am going to issue a notification of intent to withdraw from the Trans Pacific Partnership, a potential disaster for our country.  Instead, we will negotiate fair bilateral trade deals that bring jobs and industry back onto American shores.  On energy, I will cancel job killing restrictions on the production of American energy, including shale energy and clean coal, creating many millions of high paying jobs.  That's what we want, that's what we've been waiting for."
Mr Trump also says he'll issue a rule cutting government regulations, direct the Labor Department to investigate abuses of visa programs.

Meanwhile a succession of potential candidates for Donald Trump's administration continue to hold talks with him at his golf club in New Jersey.

The Prime Minister says he hopes US President-elect Donald Trump doesn't go ahead with planned action to leave the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

Malcolm Turnbull says it is up to leaders to decide what's in their respective nations' best interests.

"Mr Trump and the - his new Congress will have to make their own decisions in America's interest. That is their judgement to make, but can I say to you that it is very clear that from Australia's point of view, getting access, greater access for Australian exports, whether it is goods or services to those big markets is manifestly in our interest."
