Two girls are dead and a six-month-old baby is in hospital after a house fire in Geelong.

Two girls are dead and a six-month-old baby is in hospital for smoke inhalation after a house fire in Geelong.

The fire started about 8am in the Loch Street, Geelong East, property and arson detectives are trying to work out the cause, although it's not believed to be suspicious.

The girls, aged one and two, were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead. The baby is in hospital for smoke inhalation in a non-life threatening condition.
