In China's 19th Communist Party Congress, a Taiwan-born academic was elected as one of the delegates. Her Taiwanese household register was renounced afterwards. Meanwhile, another Taiwanese PhD candidate is reportedly to join Communist Party next year. It is phenomenal as tensions in cross-strait relations keep tightening, the news immediately caught attention and triggered a debate in Taiwan. While some believe that economic development will attract more Taiwanese to integrate into China, critics reckon it is another strategy for Communist Party's united front.
