In the latest "Sydney Notebook", our correspondent, Victor Yeung, reports about the cooperation in various police districts in Sydney resulting with 108 shop thieves being arrested before Christmas.

He also reports the appointment of the New Ageing and Disability Commissioner to combat abuse of elderly and adults with disability by the NSW government.

Also, from next year onwards, all mobile phones will be banned from all public primary schools as well as the parents of newborn babies will receive a free baby bundle from government next year.
