Broad will not contest next election

Nationals MP Andrew Broad has announced he will not contest the next federal election, as the "sugar baby" scandal evolves. After resigning as assistant minister to the Deputy Prime Minister on Monday, the now-backbencher yesterday has confirmed he has withdrawn his preselection for the Victorian seat of Mallee - considered one of the safest Coalition seats in Australia - and will not contest the 2019 election.
