The Eastwood Lunar New Year Celebrations Organising Committee has held a press conference recently, detailing the different activities prepared for the public as it enters its tenth anniversary.
Organising committee chairman, Hugh Lee OAM, JP, thanked sponsors, volunteers and supporters which have seen Eastwood's celebration grown in size and prominence in recent years to one of the premier Lunar New Year events in Sydney not to be missed.
Mr Lee, 70, also announced his upcoming retirement as committee chairman after leading the committee in the last six years, to make way for younger community leaders.
Mayor of City of Ryde, Clr Jerome Laxale, praised Mr Lee's contributions and leadership and his team of volunteers which won the City of Ryde 2017 Volunteer Group of the Year Award.
There will be three key events in the Eastwood Lunar New Year calendar this year, with the annual Cooking Competition on 17 February, Light Up Eastwood night markets on 24 February and the Grand Celebration Day on 3 March.
