The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) will visit Australia for the first time in May to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The orchestra will be conducted by the internationally acclaimed, the HK Phil Music Director, Jaap van Zweden, with renowned violinist Ning Feng as soloist. The five-concert tour will include programmes showcasing Hong Kongs creativity and musical culture including a commissioned work by a leading Hong Kong composer as well as masterpieces by Mahler, Mozart, Bartók and Brahms. The orchestra will have two concerts in Australia, one in Melbourne on the 4th May and follows another one in Sydney on the 5th of May. Selina Kong interviews with Dr Fung Lam who joined the orchestra as the Director of Artistic Planning in February 2017 to talk about the tour in May.
