An English book entitled “At Home On New Land – A collection of migrants’ stories” was published by the Chinese Australian Services Society “CASS”. It contains 40 articles telling us life stories about Chinese migrants settling and adapting into their new life in Australia. Why did the CASS publish the English book?

Jenny Leung, who was responsible for the translation, said that translating these stories really touched her.

Diana Giese, who has worked in community history for many years, gave editorial advice on the book. She said it reflects Australia’s successful multicultural society. But, as a fourth generation German Australian, Diana has seen that racism can easily be used to divide people.

Henry Pan OAM, Honorary Executive Director of CASS Group, is one of the staff members involved in the selection of stories. Why did the CASS publish the English book?

The story pickers, translator and proofreader of the book accepted the interview of SBS Mandarin. Click the podcast to learn more.

The podcast is in Chinese Mandarin.
