Interview Frankie, a former rock fisherman: regarding NSW Government to enforce life jackets after record number of deaths It's the dangerous and deadly pastime that has claimed the lives of 17 people on a small strip of Sydney's coast in the past decade. Now, after consistent warnings have failed to have any significant effect, the government is moving to force rock fishermen to wear life jackets under a new year-long trial at the city's eastern beaches. The new rules, to be enforced from next month (December 2016), will require anyone fishing from rocks at beaches within the Randwick Local Government Area to be wearing approved life jackets.
