Global finance: can Australia millk farmers survive the drought?

Dry and hot climate in New South Wales

Nationals ministers Agriculture Minister David Littleproud have launched an extraordinary attack on Australia's major supermarket chains for "pretending to be good people" during the drought. Littleproud has blasted Coles and Woolworths for squibbing on a "half-baked" idea to introduce a milk levy to support drought-affected farmers. Supermarkets are under scrutiny especially during the drought periods, but milk producers and farmers are always being underpaid under the consistent systematic failure of the business model in Australia. Ivan has invited Dr. Wei Li from Sydney university business school to tell us why.
