霍克因六四讓數萬中國人留下來

三十年前的今天,北京天安門發生六四事件。當年在澳洲有不少持臨時拘留簽證的學生或是黑市居民,都因這件事令其際遇發生了巨大的變化。 原來當年在不少亞洲人眼中,澳洲存有反亞情緒。不過,時任澳洲總理霍克 (Bob Hawke) 對於天安門事件中受難的學生產生憐憫之心,結果對移民政策作出修改,讓大批中國學生得以留下 。


所以,當上月中傳出霍克死訊時,許多曾受他恩惠的華人都表示懷念他。
