Federal Labor is vying for the votes of migrants in key marginal seats ahead of the next election with a cash boost for community language schools across Australia.

For students at Sydney's Feng Hua Chinese School, Saturdays are just another day of learning. They're among the 100,000 Australian children who go to language classes on the weekend.

the opposition has pledged eight million dollars to help more children learn a second language before they start school.

The extra funding is part of a wider push for the migrant vote at the next federal election, which is due in around three months. It is marginal seats in particular, and the migrant communities within them, that Labor has its eye on.
