At least 58 people are dead in the worst mass shooting in modern American history - an act described by President Donald Trump as pure evil. Around five hundred have also been wounded after a man opened fire on a Las Vegas music festival from a hotel room The shooter - identified as 64-year-old local Stephen Paddock - killed himself before police blasted the door open of his 32nd floor room of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. President Tump says Americans are joined together today in sadness, shock and grief over the mass shooting. Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull has described it as a "cruel and callous" attack on innocent people.
