Lead cotamination in water occurred in Hong Kong Public Housing buildings

Hong Kong government has decided to appoint a commission of inquiry to look into issues related to lead content in water supply in public housing estates, Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying said.


The commission will conduct an independent and comprehensive investigation into the water contamination scare. The first task of the panel will be to determine the causes of the recent lead contamination incidents while the second will be to examine and evaluate the adequacy of the present system of control for drinking water supply, he said.

The commission will look into the technology, standards and monitoring of the design, construction, repairs and maintenance, installation and the use of materials in public and private buildings.
