Markets looking for direction

US & China Trade talk around the corner

flags Source: AAP

Global markets fared well yesterday as China reopened its market after long holiday and that Chinese official has struck an upbeat note on the trade talk gave markets lots of momentum in the Asian Pacific region.

Of course, a strong US negotiation team arriving Beijing well ahead of the new round of trade talk on Thursday and Friday gave markets another reason to stay optimistic.

Having said that, US Dow Jones was struggling for direction this morning, pushing up on the one hand  by the optimistic assessment of  US & China talk, but on the other hand pulling down by individual poor corporate earning reports.

ASX200 took a pause after putting up a strong performance last week. And the financial community is still debating the recommendations by the Banking Royal Commission Report.

Today, our guest, independent Economic analyst and strategist, Dr Po Man Chan will focus on the merits of the recommendation on financial supervision.
