A Pap test (commonly referred to as Pap smear) is a quick and simple test that checks for changes to the cells of your cervix that may lead to cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is a disease where normal cells in the cervix change and multiply to form a growth or tumour.Regular Pap tests can reduce risk of being diagnosed with cervical cancer by up to 96%. In Australia, this means saving the lives of more than 1,200 women each year.
