Michael Gunner tells COAG the Northern Territory wants Australia’s migrants

Population was put on the agenda at the Coalition of Australian Governments (COAG) for the first time on 12 Dec 2018.


While other jurisdictions were focused on how to deal with populations increasing too quickly for infrastructure to keep up, the Territory was keen to take on as many more residents as possible, Mr Gunner said.

On the other hand, Darwin Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis has denied his decision to sign a "cooperation agreement" between Darwin City Council and a Chinese district was in any way related to his wife's historic links to the Chinese Government-run Confucius Institute.
