Longer wait for newly-arrived migrants to get welfare payments.


The Morrison government is planning to make newly-arrived migrants to wait longer in accessing various welfare payments and is expected to pass parliament after the Coalition reached a compromise with Labor. But it has been revealed the bill would have failed if Labor had voted against it.

Meanwhile, the cross-benchers are now slamming the federal opposition of making such a move. Selina Kong and Wai Yee Yeung report.
