In October 2018 Croatian MP Ivana Nincevic-Lesandric told a male-dominated parliament about the agonising treatment she received at a Croatian hospital after her miscarriage. Her testimony sparked backfire from the Ministry of Health and the hospital itself, but Croatian women came to the MP's defence, with hundreds offering testimonies of similarly painful and humiliating experiences during gynaecological procedures. We talked to Daniela Drandic, Head of the Reproductive Rights Program for Roda - Parents in Action, about the movement #BreakTheSilence that the non-profit started as early as 2015, and the international attention the movement has attracted in recent months.
