Campaign aims to give Monash highest army rank a century later

A hundred years after World War One, current and former federal MPs are campaigning to promote Australia's greatest so-called "citizen soldier" to the army's highest rank of field marshal. Sir John Monash led Allied forces, and the planning for them, in the war, inflicting pivotal defeats on the Germans. But the son of migrant German Jews also battled racism and anti-Semitism that affected his military career.
