Od svibnja do studenoga, grbavi kitovi kreću na svoje godišnje putovanje uz istočnu obalu Australije na putu prema toplijim vodama, prije povratka na Antarktiku. Na tom putu, međutim, često im prijeti opasnost da se zapletu u ribarsku opremu. Zato se ulažu napori da se to spriječi.
