Japan, Afghanistan and Iraq have the most and least powerful passports in 2019

Japan’s passport with free visa or visa on arrival access to 190 and Afghanistan and Iraq’s passports with access to 30 destinations are the world’s most and least powerful passports.

Australian passport has dropped to the tenth position after changes to Turkey and Ukraine visa conditions, according to Henley Passport Index. Australian passport holders can have free visa or visa on arrival access to 181 countries in 2019.

Singapore and South Korea with access to 189 destinations hold the second position in this index.

France and Germany’s passports rank third with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 188 countries.

9. Malta — 182

10. Australia, Iceland, New Zealand — 181

Pakistan with access to 33, Syria to 32 and Afghanistan and Iraq to 30 rank the least powerful passports of the world.

The Henley Passport Index is based on accurate data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and on visa-free or visa-on-arrival access of the passports.
