پیش‌رفت در مبارزه با زوال عقل: دوای جدید در آسترالیا تأیید شد

اداره تنظیم محصولات طبی آسترالیا یا (TGA) به‌تاز‌گی دوای را تائید کرده است که می‌تواند پیشرفت مریضی الزایمر را کُند ساخته و به افراد مبتلا امید تازه‌ای بدهد. بیماری الزایمر، رایج‌ترین نوع زوال عقل (دیمنشیا) است و حدود ۶۰۰ هزار آسترالیایی را متأثر ساخته است. محققین می‌گویند این دوا گامی مهم در مسیر تداوی مؤثرتر به‌شمار می‌رود. دوای جدید که بنام دونانومب یاد می‌شود باعث از بین رفتن تجمع پروتینی به‌ نام امیلوید پلاک می‌شود که با کاهش حافظه و اختلال در تفکر مرتبط است.
