South Sudanese leaders arrived in Rome for the two days retreat with Pople Francis and other Church leaders including the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Justin Welby and head of the Presbyterian Church. South Sudanese Ambassador to Italy Ajing Adiang Mariik confirmed the presence of the leaders.


According to ambassador Ajing, it was President Kiir was requested Pope Francis to pray for his country. The opposition and the Government will form the Government of National Unity in May 2019. In this interview with Ambassador Ajing more than one hour ago he said:
 
"We are now sending people to receive Dr Riek Machar at the airport, Mama Nyandeng, VP Taban Deng and President Kiir are here. Changson was supposed to come, but the members of the opposition are yet to agree."
