nyang Makuol Garang came to Australia in 2006 with both of his parents and younger brother Chok. After a few months, the family separated, and the two boys where looked after by their father. In 2014, the two boys lost their father after a long time of illness. Anyang and Chok were put under the care of their extended relatives.


The two boys lived with their dad for seven years. Anyang said that his father has always encouraged them to work hard. Anyang applied the words of his father when he started to play basketball. Anyang played in Adelaide, and he was awarded a school o study in Canberra. After completing his high school in Adelaide, Anyang got another scholarship to study for four years at the University of Oklahoma. Recently, Anyang was recently joined by her guardian Nyanthic Alier Kudum on a trip to the United States of America.

Nyanthic is a working mother who had eight children of her own and the two boys. Out of everything, she worked had to support all children including Anyang. Nyanthic travelled to Oklahoma in the United States to check where Anyang will be living for the next four years. Anyang will go back to the USA in April. Here is the joined interview from the two.
