Atem Biar Diing is South Sudanese veteran who fought for the Anyanya one and again for the SPLA in 1983 until 2005. He was born in Dundut (Awulian village) in 1934. At age 7, Atem was taken to School by one of the missionaries who later baptised him with the new name of Mathew. Atem was a student at the time many of the South Sudanese communities were still in worse condition when its come to service provided by any authority. At his young age, Atem Biar lived the life of a Dinka young man from wrestling, singing and herding his father's livestock. In his first interview on SBS Dinka Radio, Atem talked about his life and he also made some reflections on his work as the veteran in both Anyanya and the SPLA. He was one of the few who saw the need for rural development in South Sudan. Here is the first interview on SBS Dinka Radio.
