Retired Lt. General Bona Bang Dhel was born in current Gongrial State and went to various before joining Anyanya at very young age. In 1983, Bona Bang Dhel left South Sudan for Ethiopia on 31/05/1983 to join those of Dr.John Garang and Salva Kiir. Bona was later trained and was given a position to deputise Arok Thon Arok who was commanding Timsha battalion. In 1985, Bona was stationed in Bor in which he was commissioned for the operation which was terms as Achara-Alith(Ten thousand). We interview Bona to help understand the reason many of them fought and whether they regret having seen the reality of independent South Sudan now?
