The demonstration came as a result of a new documentary was made by Kenyan investigative journalist John Allan Namu. The documentary revealed that both South Sudanese both former and current senior officials took the South Sudanese oil money to live a luxurious life in East Africa. Following the revelation by the USA the Sentry report, this documentary implicated people like Paul Malong Awan, former Minister Stephen Dhieu Dau, current senior general and deputy Minister of Defense Malek Ruben and the SPLM IO Governor of Yei River.
