Ustaz Lewis Anei Madut-Kuendit is a South Sudanese Historian, a writer and a politician who has been an outspoken supporter of President Kiir government until recently when his own was threatened by the ‘national security in South Sudan’. Lewis is a graduate of the University of Juba, an SPLA officer, former Governor and the former of the Republic party.

Lewis was a member of the controversial organisation known as the Jieng Council of Elders and Author (History of Dinka and the migration by Ustaz Lewis Anei Kuendit) the position from which he resigned. Lewis had his first interview on SBS Dinka radio when he visited Australia in 2015. Now Lewis is a member of the new revolution which is formed by the South Sudanese former chief of army Paul Malong Awan Anei.

"I never told anyone why I was fired as Governor as the first Governor of Warrab. this was an issue to do with the capital of Warrab State. The issue was to be debated whether the capital of Warrab should be taken to Tonj or remain in Kuacjok. This issue was tabled in the State Parliament but Kiir was upset by this. Kiir called me and intimidated me to why I even chose to introduce this issue to parliament in the first place? On this, Kiir took a side and never wanted the capital to go away from his home area. Despite all of these, I chose to stand with Kiir. I have the support of my people but Kiir dragged me on the ground all almost 13 years on. When I formed my own party and try to play a none violence concept, I was again intimidated by security coming to my house at night. what have I done to deserves these?" Former Governor Luis Anei Madut-kuendit

Lewis talk about the sanctions

"Any hunter will know very well when hunting that you can't spear the shadow of an elephant and leave the real animal standing. Why would anyone think of sanctioning Kuol Manyang? He resigned almost three times because he wanted to go and stay at home but his request had been turned down. He is now sick and he needs to rest and I have to be sincere, Kuol has no hand in this conflict. Those who sanction people should select their targets very well instead of going around the real problem." Hon. Luis Anei Madut-kuendit in an interview to be published soon on SBS Dinka Radio.
