In 1983, Sudanese people began what became African longest war, between north and south. In those years, many of the children especially unaccompanied minors were recruited into the army. Over 26 thousand children who were later known as lost boys of Sudan went to different camps in Ethiopia and within Sudan. Thousands of these children never survived to peace times but those who did now gather across the world to remember the day. On 14/05/2016, many of the survivors gathered in Brisbane to remember their colleagues and to appreciate the life that they are living today in Australia and across the world. Peter Ayii Atem spoke about how he survived all these ahead of the event on Saturday.
